Beauty Is Pain.

That is going to be my new life motto. Yesterday was probably one of the most painful days of my entire life. Me and my Mom were in a cosmetics store. We were buying a bunch of stuff for me, like palettes and brushes and all that stuff. We also bought some wax for my face. I had abnormal eyebrows and a girl mustache, and I hated them both with a fiery burning passion. So, we were still browsing around and all that jazz, when we came upon this woman waxing another woman’s eyebrows. We watched until they were done, and then my Mom began to ask the woman, who I will call Mrs. Wax, questions. That’s how I ended up in the seat, waxing my eyebrows. It was painful. The wax felt like it was melting on my face. It hurt so badly when she pressed the strips and ripped them off. In the end, my eyebrows were beautiful and I no longer had a unibrow to worry about. I’m going to have to pluck them to keep up, but plucking actually didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would.

So, Mrs. Wax handed us a piece of paper with bar codes on it. “Just take it up to the front desk and you’ll be set.” My Mom saw a package deal, one for eyebrows and lip, and that’s how I ended up waxing my lip. I wanted to cry. I was red and sore and itchy all over, but it looked nice. There was cooling gel that she put on my face, but it didn’t help much. Once I got home, I head straight into the shower and ran my face under the water and scrubbed it. It felt so nice. I put some Aloe Vera oil on the red parts as well. I thought the pain was over with, until my Mom showed me these pore strips that got rid of blackheads on your nose.

“It’s painless. Trust me.”

So, I trusted her. I put them on and waited, like the box said. The peeling hurt. I ended up bawling when it was finished. It actually did get rid of  most of the blackheads, so I’m happy about that. I was just happy the pain was done and over with.

That was my painful day yesterday. Today, my face isn’t as red and I can really see what all that pain did for me. I was pleased with the results, but I still dread future waxing, blackhead removal, and even plucking. I guess that’s how we girls get tough. Just go through what I have, and you’ll see what pain is like. That’s basically all I wanted to say.

The Hunger Games

I’m trying to find a love poem to express how much I absolutely adore The Hunger Games. It’s not working out so well, so I’m just going to say it in three simple words:

I’m. In. Love.

Just last Friday I, finally, saw the movie with my friend and my Mom. My friend and I have both read all three books in The Hunger Games trilogy, but my Mom hasn’t. She now wants to read them, just as much as I want to re-read them. Which is why I used the $30 in Barnes and Noble gift cards to purchase a box set of all three books in hardcover. It’s like I’m in a whole new world. I forgot how amazing the book was until I picked it up and actually started to read. I handle the book with care, like it’s made of glass and could break at any moment.

The Hunger Games is like my new Harry Potter.

Maybe I’m obsessed, but I don’t care. I’m gonna act the way I wanna act and I don’t care what anybody thinks about it. So, there.

Let’s talk about the movie for a second. It was awesome. Usually, they ruin movies when they base them off of books. Even though they changed a few things in the movie, probably due to copyright reasons or something, it was still amazingly good. I loved the actors so much that I actually felt emotion when I watched the movie. The only time I have ever cried when watching a movie is when I saw “The Little Princess” on Disney Channel and ended up bawling at the end.

When I watched The Hunger Games, I was close to tears a few times. I would actually yell [whisper in this case because we were in a theater] at the screen. The lady to my left kept giving me an odd look, but I ignored it. When you feel emotion when you watch a movie, you just have to express it or you’ll go insane. That’s my intake on it, anyway.

Now, some of you may think my favorite character is Katniss. Well, no. I like her, don’t get me wrong. I really love Haymitch and Rue, though. Haymitch was just hilarious with his little note. My favorite? “You call that a kiss? -H.” I also adore Rue. C’mon; she’s absolutely adorable! Prim was cute, too, but Rue was cuter. Just so I don’t ruin the day of people who have yet to read the books and the movie, I will not reveal the fate of Haymitch, Rue, Katniss, or any other character in the movie/books. That’s just how considerate I am. 🙂

If you are interested, then please make sure to check out your local library or your local bookstore for a copy of the first book, The Hunger Games. The second book in the trilogy is called Catching Fire. The third, and final, is called Mockingjay.

Oh, and make sure to see the movie. I would suggest after reading, at the very least, the first book. Don’t let the movie screw up your image of the characters, the setting, whatever. Read the book first. Do that when it comes to every movie they make based off of a book: see it after the book. Trust me. You’ll get the movie when you read the book, ‘cuz they include details that the movie don’t have.

Did you see the movie? Read the books? What did you think? Let me know in the comment section below!

Spgerfranglish

Spgerfranglish. What does it mean? Well, in my opinion because I don’t have a clue either, I believe it is these four languages mushed together:

  • Spanish.
  • German.
  • French.
  • English

Out of those four languages, I only know French and English. My out-of-school-Languages-Arts-teacher knows German and talks to me in that language just to annoy me. I only know the basic words in Spanish, like “hola” and “adios” and “amigo/amiga” and many others that I am just too lazy to list. I can see why my teacher mashed up all those languages together.

They’re related, aren’t they? Spanish and French have some similarities in words, such as friend. For Spanish, it is “amigo” for a male and “amiga” for a female if I know Spanish enough. In French, “ami” is the male version and “amie” is the female version. Do you see a resemblance? I do. I hardly know any German so I can’t speak for it. English is pretty obvious. Most of us know it. If you didn’t know English, you wouldn’t have the foggiest idea as to what I’m writing.

Spanish: Si usted no sabe Inglés, por favor, no sigas leyendo.

German: Wenn du nicht weißt, Englisch, bitte aufhören zu lesen.

French: Si vous ne savez pas l’anglais, s’il vous plaît arrêter la lecture.

English: If you do not know English, please stop reading.

I decided to use that as an example for the resemblance. Why? First off, innocent Spanish, German, or French people might read this and I would like to give them a chance to save their brains and stop trying to read something as complicated as this. Learn the basics before you just ahead. Plus, it was the only phrase that I could think of at the time.

Notice how both Spanish and French start with si? My knowledge of French lets me know that “si” in French is “if.” Pretty sure it’s the same for Spanish… Isn’t “si” “yes” in Spanish? Whoa… Now I’m getting confused. 😛

The world “English” in both German and English are similar as well. If you just take out that “c” near the end in Englisch than you have the English word; English.

Is anybody as confused as I am right now?

This is getting boring. I think I’m going to play around with Google Translate and see what some other phrases look like.

La palabra de prensa.

Word press.

Word press.

Word press.

Man, word press isn’t a great word to use. I bet you can’t guess which one is the English version, huh? Or the French and German. *sigh*

I’m going to stop here now. Comment below about my random bursts that popped into my head.

The Sims 3.

As I have mentioned before, I am an extreme gamer girl. I have to love the game and the graphics at the same time or else I won’t play it. The graphics could be the best thing in the entire universe, but if I hate the game-play and the plot then I won’t play it. Same vice-verse. If the game play is amazing but the graphics are terrible, then I won’t play it. In this case, it’s that the game play is great but the graphics are terrible. By the title, you can guess that I am talking about The Sims 3.

The picture of how the game box looks.

The picture of how the game box looks.

I’ve always loved The Sims. I own a few The Sims 2 games but they don’t exactly work that well anymore. Maybe it’s because they are a little old for the laptop model I have, or my laptop just can’t handle it. Either way, I have some The Sims 2. Now I was excited for The Sims 3. It worked amazingly on my computer. From what I remember, I don’t think the graphics bugged me that much before. Well, they do now. The game works fine, but it’s just the way it looks. Like it was made in the 1990s, before gaming graphics took that giant milestone that actually made them appear  realistic. On my computer, not so much.

I also have two Expansion Packs; Generations and Pets. Generations doesn’t change anything physically. You can do more things, like pull crank calls, egg or tip-pi someone’s house with toilet paper. You teen Sim can graduate, go to Prom, get voted for King and Queen and much more. I got it because opened up more with the original base game. Did that make the graphics better? No.

Now, for Pets, you obviously get… well, pets. Dogs, cats, even horses are available with that game. The pets, in my opinion, look weird on mine. I owned a Siberian Husky in the game once, and it looked like their fur was… transparent or something. Their tail was also missing, unless I zoomed in and got a closer look at the pet itself. That’s the thing with my game; you have to zoom in really closely to get good graphics. It’s annoying.

Anyway, back to the pets. You could see the skeleton for the animal underneath their transparent fur. It also looked like it was floating above their body or something. My computer just can’t handle gaming graphics, I suppose.

All in all, I’m disappointed. Not with the game, but with my computer. I tried to install it on my Dad’s laptop, and it worked. The graphics improved greatly, but his computer is packed with viruses. It lags, freezes, and the game constantly crashes. My birthday is coming up soon. This month, actually. Fingers crossed my Mom decides to give me her old MacBook for my birthday. The Sims 3 can be on a Mac computer, in case you didn’t know.

Well, that’s it. I just wanted to rant about the graphics and what-not. If you haven’t gotten a copy of the game yet, I highly recommend it. Check out Youtube for people playing the game to get more insider info before you make the purchase. You can look up more on the Internet. Check out http://www.thesims3.com for even more info. I promise you won’t regret it~!

The Mortal Instruments.

The first three books in the series.

The first three books in the series.

Here is information on the series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mortal_Instruments_(series)

Since I’m reading one of these books, I decided to do a review for them. Keep in mind that this is my first-ish review on a book, so go easy on me.

I absolutely love the books. There is so much drama between the characters within the story and I’m eagerly turning the page, drinking up the words and anticipating more. The only bad thing about them is that they’re already so awesome… how can she top what she’s already written? Other than that… I give a thumbs up, add it to my Favorite list, and and a four-star rating. ****

The series was originally a trilogy, but I guess there was more to tell and she’s already added two more books after City of Glass.
